How The Journey Started

I have drawn and painted for many years and explored a considerable number of media and subjects. It was however a move to Greece in the late 1980s and early 1990s that deeply inspired my artistic creativity. In addition to working in oils and acrylics, I took the opportunity to attend workshops in Athens on the technique of nopography which involved creating mixed media artwork on wood with pyrography. I also held exhibitions of my work and produced commissions.
After my return from Greece, the next two decades were spent conducting academic research on tourism to the First World War battlefields in France and Belgium. My research left me with a profound attachment to these evocative landscapes and today in my studio in Wimbledon I have turned from writing about them to painting them, mainly in the lively medium of acrylics.
In addition to battlefield landscapes I also draw inspiration from painting woodlands, coastal landscapes and florals. With flowers, I love the attention to detail that painting their delicate structures requires.
My portfolio is divided into two collections: contemporary battlefield landscapes and flora, woodlands and coastal landscapes.
